La Commission européenne développe des initiatives et déploie des stratégies visant à la neutralité carbone. Cet ensemble, connu sous le nom de « pacte vert pour l’Europe », aspire à rendre l’UE climatiquement neutre en 2050. Au-delà des affaires institutionnelles, l’atteinte des ambitieux objectifs écologiques que se donne l’Union européenne requiert des changements économiques et sociaux majeurs.
