Think Global – Act European (TGAE) The Contributions of European Think Tanks to the Trio Presidency of the EU
The first three editions of the report were dedicated to successive trios of presidencies. They present a thorough analysis of the new role of the rotating presidencies of the EU, of the way these interact with other communitarian institutions, regrouping sector by sector the recommendations that think tank experts address to the governments of the incumbent Trio.
Launched in parallel
to the preparation of the common program of the French, Czech and Swedish Trio
Presidency (July 2008 – December 2009), the project Think Global – Act European
(TGAE) was designed to accompany the establishment of
the trio presidency of the EU that was to be institutionalized soon after by
the Treaty of Lisbon. With the establishment of a two and a half years
permanent presidency to the European Council, the coordination of the three
rotating presidencies over eighteen months became increasingly strategic.
The first three
editions of the report were thus dedicated to successive trios of presidencies.
They present a thorough analysis of the new role of the rotating presidencies
of the EU, of the way these interact with other communitarian institutions,
regrouping sector by sector the recommendations that think tank experts address
to the governments of the incumbent Trio.
