Carlos Moedas, born on 10 August 1970 in Beja, is a Portuguese engineer, economist and politician. Formerly Secretary of State to the Portuguese Prime Minister, he was the European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science from 2014 to 2019. He was elected Mayor of Lisbon on the 26th of September 2021.
