Jean-Christophe Bureau obtained his thesis at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1986. Professor of economics at AgroParisTech, he works on agricultural policy and trade negotiations. He coordinates the Master of Economics of Environment and Energy at Paris-Saclay University.
He previously worked at the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) where he headed the Joint Research Unit in Public Economics (UMR INRA 210), at the Organization for Economic Development Cooperation (OECD), the Economic Research Service of the US Department of Agriculture, Trinity College Dublin and Iowa State University. He was a member of the Permanent Cell of the Prime Minister’s Economic Analysis Council from 2002 to 2004.
He works regularly for the European Commission and the European Parliament. In 2016, he was elected Fellow of the European Association of Agricultural Economists.He is a research associate at the CEPII (Center for Prospective Studies and International Information) and the Jacques Delors Institute.
He is the author of Politique Agricole commune (Repères, La Découverte, 2007).
