Enrico Letta

President

President of the Jacques Delors Institute and former President of the Italian Council of Ministers. He has been Dean of the IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs in Madrid since October 2024.

He was Minister for Community Policies, then Minister for Industry, Trade and Crafts in the governments of Massimo D’Alema and Giuliano Amato. An opposition MP from 2001 to 2006, during the 14th legislature, Letta returned to government in 2006 as Secretary of State to the Prime Minister, working alongside Romano Prodi. After returning to the opposition following the general elections in April 2008, he became deputy secretary of the Democratic Party (PD) in 2009. Appointed Prime Minister in April 2013, he formed a grand coalition government. He resigned from his post as Prime Minister on 14 February 2014. Between 2015 and 2021, he was Dean of the School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po Paris.

He is the author of the report on the future of the single market, Much More than a Market, presented to the European Council in April 2024.
