Jacques Delors Conference 2021 : Bouncing back with Europe

How can young people in Europe bounce back when faced with a crisis such as the one we are experiencing today? What is Europe doing for young people, and what do they expect in return? These questions will be at the heart of the first edition of the Jacques Delors Conference, which marks the 25th anniversary of the Jacques Delors Institute.

The Jacques Delors Conference is the new flagship annual event of the Notre Europe Academy. Its objective is twofold. On the one hand, it aims to raise awareness among young people, whether or not they are already familiar with European issues, by enabling them to better understand the European Union and its policies. On the other hand, it aims to mobilise young people to express their expectations regarding the European project, while enabling them to make their voices heard. The event will be structured around three main elements:

Debates and presentations by leading European decision-makers aimed at creating a dialogue on the future of Europe. For this first edition, Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, will be the guest of honour.

A forum with workshops led by European associations and organisations. Through several online workshops, participants will be able to gain a better understanding of Europe, discover the opportunities for mobility, training and civic engagement available to them, and discuss priorities for EU action.

A theatrical performance on the theme of Europe. This year, we will present ‘Nous, l’Europe, banquet des peuples’ (We, Europe, banquet of the peoples), directed and revisited for the occasion by Roland Auzet.

Following on from the Notre Europe Academy, which offers a free training course on European citizenship and welcomes more than 60 young people from all backgrounds every year, the Jacques Delors Conference is open to all young people aged 16 to 30.
