Researcher at Jacques Delors Institute untill 2000, Alessandra Bosco, an Italian national, monitored issues relating to social protection, the European employment strategy and the European social dialogue. The social issues raised by European integration have been central to her research and professionalcareer for a number of years. In 1994, after obtaining a Master’s Degree from the College of Europe in Bruges and a degree in industrial relations from LUISS university in Rome, she contributed to the preparation and follow-up of the White Paper on a European employment strategy at the European Commission. Between 1995 and 1998, she was a researcher oncomparative and European social protection policies at the research institute of the EuropeanTrade Union Confederation (ETUI) in Brussels, where she carried out a number of studies forthe Economic and Social Committee
