The war in Ukraine has provoked major foreign policy shifts in Berlin as well as a reflection on how to decrease dependencies, but it isn’t obvious that these changes have served to strengthen its relations with Paris. One day after the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty and a gathering of the Franco-German Council of Ministers, this event will examine the future of the Franco-German partnership and its implications for an increasingly geopolitical European Union.

An exceptional conversation between the German and French Ministers of State for Europe, Anna Lührmann and Laurence Boone, moderated by Britta Sandberg.

This conversation will be preceded by a panel discussion on recent changes in policy and in public opinion with Sébastien Maillard, Olivier Rozenberg and Jacob Ross (DGAP), moderated by Rym Momtaz. It will draw upon the latest results of The Berlin Pulse, the Körber-Stiftung’s annual survey of attitudes of Germans about key foreign policy issues which affect the Franco-German partnership.
