On 22 January, Germany and France will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty, which sealed a profound cooperation between the two countries. Although the Franco-German tandem is often the driving force behind European integration, the relationship has experienced complications in the autumn against a backdrop of profound differences: German investment plan for its economy, priorities in the energy transition, European defence or reform of the stability and growth pact. How can the Franco-German dynamic be relaunched to face the European challenges of 2023?
