Denis MacShane

Former minister of Great Britain and former member of the House of Commons

Denis MacShane worked for the BBC from 1969 to 1977. He obtained a PhD in economics from the University of London in 1990. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1994, a mandate he will retain until 2012. In 2001 he is appointed Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in charge of the Balkans and Latin America. In 2002, he became Minister of European Affairs in Tony Blair’s government until 2005.
As a parliamentarian, he is committed to anti-Semitism; In 2009, he became director of the European Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.
In 2016, he publishes the book Brexit, why the United Kingdom will leave Europe. In 2017 he published a new book, Brexit, No Exit: Why Britain Will not Leave Europe in which he claims that the UK will not be able to leave the European Union.
