PhD in Mining
Engineering from the Mining Engineering School of Madrid (ETSI Minas de
Madrid), Graduate in Economic and Business Science from the Complutense
University of Madrid (UCM) and Diploma in Business Studies from the London
School of Economics.

At present he is Head of the Energy Chair at
Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness and member of the Royal Academy of
Engineering as well as member of the Study Committee of the World Energy Council.

Between 1989 and 2009 he worked at Grupo Unión Fenosa where, among other posts,
he was Director of Corporate Intelligence at Gas Natural Fenosa; Corporate
Manager of Quality, Environment and R&D, of Fuels, of Planning, Economics
and Control, and General Secretary of Unión Fenosa Gas.

He has also been linked
to the academic world as Associate Lecturer at UCM, ETSI Minas de Madrid and
Academic Director at the Spanish Club of Energy.
