Emmanuel Mermet

Former research fellow at the Jacques Delors Institute (2011)

Emmanuel Mermet has first studied economics at the University of Rouen (Up to Masters’ degree) . After that he got a Master about “European economic and social area” at the University of Lille 1 (1996) that allowed him to specialize in European macroeconomics through a study on the birth of the Economic and Monetary Union. He then oriented to a second Master in local development at the University of Rouen (1997).

After a stage at the European Parliament (1996), he became Research Officer on economic affairs at the European Trade Union Institute in Brussels from 1998 to 2003. In this research institute of the European Trade Union Confederation, he conducted researches on the consequences of the euro on collective bargaining and participated in the European debate about wage coordination. He published books about Wage Formation in Europe and the follow-up of collective bargaining. Then he worked as an Economic advisor at the French trade union CFDT (2003-2010). This experience allowed him to participate in the European Macroeconomic Dialogue and to work on French, European and international economic affairs, particularly on economic governance, financial markets regulation and taxation.
