In January 1998, Pavel Telicka was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and shortly after Chief Negotiator for the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union. In October 1999 he was appointed State Secretary for European Affairs. He was Commissioner co-responsible for the portfolio of health and consumer protection from February to November 2004. He is co-founder of BXL Consulting (Prague and Brussels).
He is member of Jacques Delors Institute‘s Board of Directors.
