Sylvie Matelly has been Director of the Institut Jacques Delors since 2023.
She was previously deputy director of the Institut de Relations Internationales et Stratégiques (IRIS) between 2016 and 2023. She joined IRIS in 2001 as a researcher in international and defence economics, and is an expert in geopolitics and economics, particularly defence industries and policies, export controls and corruption. Between 2009 and 2016, she was Professor at the Léonard de Vinci School of Management (Paris-La Défense), where she headed the Department of Economics, Finance, Law and International Relations. Sylvie has a PhD in international economics – Thesis about “Economic determinants of military spending”, defended at the University Pierre Mendès France in Grenoble, September 2000.
She has also published several reference works: “L’Europe peut-elle faire face à la mondialisation” with Bastien Nivet (Éditions La Découverte, 2015), “Géopolitique de l’économie” (Éditions Eyrolles, 2021) and “L’économie tout simplement” in collaboration with Assen Slim (Editions Eyrolles, 2023).
