Sylvie-Agnès Bermann, born on 19 October 1953 in Salins-les-Bains (Jura)1 , is a career French diplomat, French ambassador to Russia from September 2017 to December 20192. She was previously French Ambassador to China from 2011 to 20143 and French Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2014 to 2017. In 2020 she was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of the Institut des hautes études de défense nationale. Since 2021, she has been a director of the Institut de relations internationales et stratégiques.
Sylvie Bermann was previously Director of the Department of the United Nations, International Organisations, Human Rights and Francophonie (NUOI) at the Quai d’Orsay4.
